VTW will present itself to the public for the first time at Fakuma 2021 in Hall A1 / Booth 1117.
After a construction period of only 9 months, the European headquarters of the Indian tool making group VTC (Vasantha Tool Crafts) in Waidhofen at the Thaya / Lower Austria went into operation in May of this year. It operates under the name VTW (Vasantha Tool Waidhofen) GmbH, reminiscent of the former toolmaking company KTW in Waidhofen at the Thaya. The latter has developed over 40 years from 1979 into one of the leading suppliers of closure systems and high-performance injection molds for closures.
Vasantha Tool Crafts Pvt. Ltd, on the other hand, which has been active in the same market segment for over 30 years, was looking for a European company to acquire in order to offer a center of excellence and manufacturing to local customers.
In 2019 fortunate circumstances brought together Vasantha and former KTW executives who were in search of new job prospects. VTW Managing Director Manfred Schinko comments: “Though we were not able to offer Vasantha an entire company, we brought together a larger number of experienced KTW toolmakers and their relevant know-how. Against this background, the talks with Vasantha quickly led to success and resulted in the foundation of VTW GmbH.”
14 million invested in new plant and mechanical equipment
Subsequently, a competence and production center for tool and mold making was built in Waidhofen at the Thaya. The new production premises are equipped with the latest technologies for reaching the highest state-of art ecology and efficiency standards. In particular, through a compact design, the use of thermal building core activation for the temperature control via the building masses, heat pumps and heat recovery systems. With this and the planned addition of a photovoltaic system through the purchase of exclusively “green” electricity from wind and water energy, the prerequisites have been created for VTW to become a CO2 -neutral company in the short term. The machine equipment is state-of-the-art in terms of precision, efficiency and degree of automation. In addition, Iot-capable machinery and equipment in combination with ERP and MES systems offer the necessary prerequisites for “digital manufacturing” and have already been successfully implemented in some areas.
Focus on multi-cavity high performance molds
The focus of the Vasantha Group and thus also of the Austrian VTW are high-performance injection molds for the application segments listed below:
> Pharmaceutical closures and pharmaceutical components
> Medical technology and laboratory components
> Beverage closures, sports caps, closures for carton packages for liquids
> Tamper-evident caps and packages, child-resistant closures
> Dosing and pouring systems
> Flip-top closures, spray caps
Performance test and qualification included
All molds are tested, optimized and qualified in-house. Applications are tested to the respective customer requirements under practical conditions. For this purpose three high-performance injection molding machines with clamping forces from 1,500 to 6,500 kN are available. In addition, VTW offers bays, equipped with all the necessary infrastructure facilities, for the qualification of customer-specific production cells.
